Edastame info noorteprojekti kohta, mille raames keskkooliõpilased tutvuvad lähemalt inimõiguste temaatikaga. Üritus toimub 10.-15. aprillil Poolas.
Model
International Criminal Court (MICC) is
a project of German organisation „Kreisau Initiative Berlin“ and Polish
“Foundation Krzyzowa for Mutual Understanding in Europe”. Each year we invite
schools from Poland, Germany and a third country to participate in the project. This year we would like to invite schools from Estonia. We would be
delighted if our human rights project would be of your and your pupils’
interest.
The
project
Model
International Criminal Court (MICC School) is a simulation of the
International Criminal Court for high school students from all over
Europe. MICC encourages students to and guides them in the study and work of
human rights. It does so by combining a set of training sessions, discussions
and workshops with an internationally set up simulation of the ICC. By this MICC
also fosters for intercultural dialogue and understanding among students of
various national and cultural backgrounds. MICC
School is targeted at high school students. It brings together young people from
Germany, Poland and alternating one third country - this spring it is Estonia.
The aim of MICC School is on the one hand to raise awareness for human
rights and educate students about methods of their protection. On the other hand
MICC sets a strong focus on the international youth meeting character of the
project to foster for intercultural dialogue and understanding.
Simulation
Subject
to the simulation are final pleadings of historic cases that were heard before
the international tribunals, namely the Nuremberg Tribunal, the ICTY and the
ICTR. During the project the students explore their roles as prosecutors,
members of the defence, judges or members of the observing media in tri-national
teams. When being admitted to the program, participants will be put in teams
of three with students from other countries. Together they will prepare their
pleadings and strategy via email and online-forum already before coming to
Krzyżowa.
Trainings
The
simulation is imbedded into a series of workshops and trainings on human rights,
the resistance movement against the Nazi regime and the historic background of
the cases. Furthermore, there will be training to prepare for the simulation. In
their teams, the participants will experience legal and rhetoric training.
The working language of the project is English.
The
project takes place from 10th to 15th April 2008 in the International Youth Meeting Centre Krzyzowa (Poland). The participants’
fee for students and an accompanying teacher is 40 EUR per person and
contains: participation, working material, boarding and lodging for the whole
project time.
